Biography
Rebecca Wood serves as the Managing Director of Financial Services at Penta and Head of the Brussels office, bringing over a decade of expertise in financial services policy and regulation. Her career encompasses significant roles across public, regulatory, and private sectors, underscoring her comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape.
At Penta, Rebecca specialises in developing policy engagement strategies within the financial services sector, including banking, insurance, FinTech, and sustainable finance. Her passion for building mutually beneficial relationships and her extensive experience from both industry and policymaker perspectives make her a valuable asset to clients seeking to navigate the complexities of financial regulation.
Rebecca's professional journey commenced at the UK's Financial Conduct Authority and the Bank of England, where she honed her regulatory acumen. She then transitioned to Brussels as a Seconded National Expert at the European Commission's DG FISMA where she contributed to the development of EU financial regulation.
Following her time at the Commission, Rebecca held senior positions including Head of European Policy at the City of London Corporation’s EU office where she revitalised the organisation's Brussels presence during the Brexit negotiations, and as Director of Group Government Relations at Barclays PLC, further enhancing her industry insights.
Before joining Penta, Rebecca led the financial services practice at Brunswick Group in Brussels, advising clients on navigating complex regulatory environments. Her dual perspective from both industry and policymaker roles enables her to craft innovative strategies and policy solutions for clients.
Rebecca holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of York, a BSc in Psychology with First Class Honours from the Open University, and an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Glasgow.
